Celebrate Children 2010

SBP Board Chair Jill Reff and friends wining and dining at Celebrate Children 2010!

After a gray and damp morning, the sun broke through the clouds and cast a warm and tranquil glow on StrengthBuilding Partners' 10th Annual Celebrate Children fundraising event, held on Friday, April 23rd. Guests were welcomed to the event with colorful balloons, beautiful hand-painted wine glasses and the soft jazz sounds of the Mike Kuhn band.

Delicious aromas wafted through the evening air and guests were eager to sample the many delights offered. Acacia at St. Philip's Plaza served up their scrumptious tostadas, green chili enchiladas, guacamole, chips and spicy salsa. Shrimp-stuffed chicken and savory pasta from Vivace tempted both seafood and pasta lovers alike. R&R Bar-B-Que didn't disappoint with their tangy beef brisket, mouth-watering shredded pork and smoked sausage, while Little Mexico thrilled the crowd with their fun Mexican fare including tender shredded beef tacos, rice and beans. Romano's Macaroni Grill delighted guests with their signature Italian fare including their delicious creamy pasta, peasant bread and tart apple crumble. Finally, a heavenly assortment of decadent desserts from Blue House Catering proved to be the perfect sweet ending!

Colorful silent auction tables were loaded with abundant offerings including dazzling sterling silver earrings from Tiffany's; an incredible four-day, three night stay at the luxurious JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa in Phoenix (including the use of a beautiful BMW donated from BMW of Tucson); two round-trip tickets each from AirTran and Southwest Airlines; stunning artwork from local artists Diana Madaras and the late Ted DeGrazia; and, beautiful hand-painted original artwork and hand-carved wood from local Native American artists. Parents were delighted to discover generous gift certificates from Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure, Mt. Lemmon SkyRide, Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures and Funtasticks. Arizona Diamondback fans vied for the winning bid on four stadium seats to an upcoming game and tickets to Laff's Comedy Club pleased those seeking belly laughs and fun! To the delight of many of our guests who are avid book-lovers - silent auction tables overflowed with autographed books from many best-selling authors!
